We had a great start with a visit from Carissa, Devon and Chris from Waikato Valley Cricket.
They also let us know about an initiative for cricket they are hosting at Herries Park on Friday afternoons for the next 4 weeks. Starting on the 11th March - 3.30pm - 4.30pm for Years 2 - 6 (perfect for all our Year 5's).
I'm hoping to post a few other recounts/moments in time as they get them published.
Here is Anna W's.
Cricket
Adrenalin was pumping through my body, as the ball was coming towards me. I waited for that CRACK… but it never came, I’d missed the ball and all I could hear was screaming that word RUN! I thought but by then it was too late,I was out! The star people from the Cheetahs by far were Phoenix and Marina, Phoenix got our team 20 runs and was first batter, we were winning and we still had all of the other people to go. Marina got 15 runs and the rest of our team scored us victory! Cricket had been great fun, thanks to Carissa, Chris and Devon from Waikato Valley Cricket.
I love how she used a hook to capture the reader's interest - linking that poem we had in homework into her writing.
We also had a lovely first Tuakana/Teina session. We are privileged to be working with Room 5 and 6 children. This week was getting to know them, sharing our writing and reading a book. Our class stepped up and were fantastic Tuakana. It was thumbs up all round - everyone enjoyed our first get together.
Congratulations to Brandy and Rico as this weeks Stars of Room 13.
Also a big shout out to Sofia and Noah for being the Junior School Swimming Champions, both received their trophies at this weeks assembly. I was an extremely proud teacher watching the Rm 13 students receive certificates of achievement for their swimming.
Swimming is continuing and will be reviewed at the end of next week - keep bringing those togs and towels. This week we will be completing our assessments for swimming. The pool is extremely warm with the solar heating system, we may even get a few more weeks in.
On Thursday seven of the class represented the school at the District swimming held at Te Aroha College. Richie has been selected to represent the school at the Thames Valley event coming up this week.
Unfortunately I missed the Rippa Rugby skills session. I'm hoping to hear about it in some of the writing this week...
