Mrs H's input - Welcome back to Term Two, it has been a wonderful week to hear about all the exciting adventures in the holidays, the movies that have been viewed and the wonderful time spent with family.
This term we are going to continue to make strong links to our family/whanau by looking at Culture and Identity. As a middle school we are focussing on Myths and Legends and incorporating Matariki. We have an exciting trip planned to the Auckland Museum in Week 5 to investigate - ancient worlds. In Week 4 we have a Book Week(just next door) with a monster theme. It is and exciting start to the term.
STARS OF THE WEEK - Leah and Thomas.
I've read quite a few comments, recommendations and advice from our Quadbloggers and we have started in Room 13 to share the blogging around - Check out what this weeks bloggers have to share - Thanks Leah, Riley, Sofia and Anna K.
On Thursday some tree care experts came to Stanley Ave to do some pruning because some of our trees are getting out of control. They cut off a side of the big oak because the neighbours were complaining about the tree in their property.
They also pruned the tree outside Room 13 which was very noisy in class. We could see falling branches out the window which interrupted our reading time. One of the men climbed up the tree with lots of protective gear: helmet, boots, gloves, and a harness with lots of caribiners ( Clips that are attached onto the harness.
Tricky typing
Yesterday we took a typing test to see how fast we were at typing on a chromebook Mrs Haddock made a doc where we could put in our score. HTTP://TYPING-SPEED-TEST.AOEU.EU/ After, we played some typing games Mrs H got us to take the test again for a chance to improve. There is a link to typing activities on the right side of the blog.
Recipes.
This week we have been making recipes for a perfect holiday.
Games
On Wednesday morning we played Octopus with a ball, it was a modified game. It was a bit harder with the ball.
