Day 15

During Maths today we learnt a game called 'Kia Tekau'  where we counted forward and backward in Maori and we had to work hard to remember the actions.  At the start we all got mixed up, however as we practiced and worked on little steps we gradually got better and better.  Our First Attempt In Learning wasn't wonderful, with a growth mindset we knew we could get there.

We also reviewed the Roman Numerals.

A mnemonic to remember the order
I Value X-rays Lets Count the Doctors Money

I = 1
V = 5
X = 10
L = 50
C = 100
D = 500
M = 1000

This year is MMXVI

Can you work out the following?

MCMLIII - The year Sir Edmund Hillary climbed Mount Everest

MCMLXXXVII - The year the All Blacks won the Webb Ellis Trophy the first time.

MCMLXIV - The year Stanley Avenue School opened

MCMLXXII - The year Mrs H was born

Thanks to Marina who brought in some cards to count to twenty in Spanish.
