Day 16

We started the day choking back some of the smoke from a nearby fire.  The wind had changed direction by the time most of us had arrived at school so we ended up with a smelly, smokey start to the day.  Mr Hale was in the room up until morning tea, he is doing the release blocks for Room 13.

We also had a challenging Maths session  solving problems with Maori numbers.  A great opportunity to use students as teachers to assist buddies and explain how they solved the work.

Also it was a great time to explain why answers are put in the back of some maths books- to check you are on the right track and not just to copy.

It was exciting in the afternoon to look up classroom furniture as potential items to be purchased for Room 13.

It was also  introduced today the inquiry theme for the term - Our voice is powerful!  With the flag decision just around the corner it is a perfect time to discuss how we can have our say.
